OUR APPROACH —

It is a policy of the firm that a Director be assigned to each project, who takes a “hands-on approach”, from early concept stage through to detailed design and construction.

MANAGING DIRECTOR —

Andrew Charalambous

BE(Hons), MIEAust, CPEng, Registered Building Practitioner

Andrew’s engineering experience includes a three-year period with the Road Construction Authority working on the design and construction of road and civil engineering structures. He was involved in the design of numerous bridge projects and the hydraulic design of floodways and culvert systems during this period.

In 1985 Andrew joined The O’Neill Group and has worked on a diverse range of projects gaining considerable experience as a design engineer in all areas of structural engineering, with particular expertise in prestressed concrete. In 1992 he became a director and was responsible for the design and management of a wide range of commercial, industrial and civil engineering projects up to $200M in value.

Andrew has been involved as a specialist design consultant in the field of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) both here and overseas and has completed an AAC technical design manual for CSR Hebel to be used throughout Australia and in New Zealand, incorporating earthquake design. He has been involved in the design and co-ordination of projects that the group has undertaken in Thailand and Malaysia and has been a joint Author of a paper “State of the Art Design in Post-Tensioned Concrete” given in Hong Kong.

Andrew is currently a guest lecturer at the University of Melbourne in the Department of Architecture and Building in Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete and Structural Steel and is still heavily involved in the structural engineering design, particularly in the early concept stage of projects which reflect the groups commitment to provide efficient and innovative design solutions that take into account not only cost but also other equally important considerations such as safety and buildability.
